haiku & not haiku
In his dreams, he could do things.
In his dreams, he assumed
he would still be able to do those things
when awake. Car lights traversing the ceiling
soundlessly until extinguished.
This one breaks the heart.
The comfort of being tucked up tight beneath the covers memories this evokes is similarly a realisation of being inescapably trapped.
